Special Concert Faerd: 2 April

Thursday 2 April, 8pm

Toi Poneke

67 Abel Smith St

Færd was launched in 2001 by Peter Uhrbrand and Eskil Romme. The idea of getting a crew together came after touring up north on the Faroe Islands.  They discovered a kind of basic Scandinavian musical material which was quite unique.

From 2005 Færd became a trio. Still Peter and Eskil and also wedish bouzouki, guitar player and vocalist Jens Ulvsand. The musical idea is still kept, and  Jens Ulvsand  introduces a wider influence and style. All three have a background in jazz and rock music  Færd now uses this mix, but on an acoustic basis.

Færd’s latest CD ‘Logbok’ also has, as a guest singer Julie
Hjetland on two tracks. “Logbok”(logbook) covers Faerd’s musical expeditions in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, The Faroe Islands, Shetland, England, Holland and New Zealand. The material is a mix of traditional and newly composed tunes and songs by a wide range of musicians and composers from all over the world.

“A trio whose music crosses borders between styles, nationalities and traditions”

“Music with roots going back before 1700: Danish and Faroese ballads, melodies by the Faroese troubadour J. Chr. Svabo and Shetland fiddle tunes.”
