Richard Gilewitz Acoustic Adventures Concert

Richard Gilewitz is one of America's most exciting acoustic guitar artists on the scene today. His music has been recorded by Leo Kottke, and his own album, Somewhere in Between, has been praised by critics and peers alike.  Expect an evening of awesome technique on his 6 string, 12 string and slide guitars; nice singing; and complex, energetic originals; all interspersed with his unexpectedly charming stories.

Known as one of the strangest men in acoustic music today, Richard Gilewitz fascinates his audiences with fingerstyle gymnastics on his 6 and 12-string guitars while spinning yarns too unbelievable not to be true. His ability to make one guitar sound like an entire orchestra stems from 33 years of well-honed technique and 25 years of on the road worldwide touring, creating his own signature sound that has been captured on his CDs, DVDs, and songbooks. But it is his live shows that bring out the best in this author, composer, guitarist, humorist, AND storyteller who follows a distinct cadence that creates a glow that continually grows a little brighter with each tune.

This solo performer combines quips and tunes with a little history to deliver a timeless picture of American and European fingerstyle guitar. "Fingerstyle Guitar through Time" is truly a magical journey of instrumental music, tales from the road, and a few laughs along the way. Incorporating his own personality and orchestration into this sound tunnel of timeless musical history, Richard delivers a musical pallet filled with colorful imagery of samples from European, Contemporary, and Spanish Classical works to the Traditional Folk, Blues and American Primitive eras. Combining both standard and unique tunings with his interpretations, every single note is treated as an individual character in a society of notes. As he appears to achieve a three-dimensional sound that is very distinctive, it is apparent that Richard's own DNA is reflected in his playing.
