Acoustic Routes’ monthly event at the Ruby Lounge on Sunday, June 27, will take a different form. Instead of the usual concert we'll be hosting a ceilidh to help keep you warm as we head into winter. It will feature The Jimmies, Wellington's longest-running Celtic music group and the city's leading ceilidh and barn-dance band.

Anyone going to a Jimmies’ ceilidh or barn-dance can be assured of a rollicking good time. You will get to learn dances from the Irish, Scottish, American, New Zealand and Australian traditions, which the band will teach and then call as you step them out to the accompaniment of fired-up jigs, reels and polkas.

The band’s song repertoire ranges from traditional Celtic to contemporary Kiwi, as well as rock and roll standards from the 60s and 70s. Dancing can be hungry/thirsty work so the door charge for the ceilidh will include a light supper. Don’t miss this rare chance to try country dancing in the city!
