July 27 2008, 8pmThe Back RoomWellington Arts Centre61 Abel Smith StSongs and Tunes of the 20s and 30sThe Paradise Dance band formed to play as a “foyer focus” for a play set in 1937. Since then they have continued to develop a strong theme that reflects a 1920’s/30’s sensibility. They provide a rich background of music and song from the classy crooning of Tim “I wish I was Balkan” Barrie to the suave swing of Alan Brushes Burden’s drumming. Their music is lively, swung, and refreshing; they are equally as at home playing for concerts as weddings, parties or anything where people want to dance.
